Compulsory Face Coverings as of Monday 15 June

Transport for London update delivered by –

Managing Director, Customers, Communication & Technology

From Monday 15 June, the use of face coverings will be compulsory on our services.

Face coverings can be a simple cloth that covers your nose and mouth. They can be made using many items found in your home.

We encourage you to consider making your own face coverings; it is simple and cheap to do so with resources available to help you, including how to make your own face covering.

To help you adjust to the new requirements we will be piloting temporary distribution of single use face coverings at busier Tube stations and bus stations from Monday 8 June.

In line with Government advice, everyone who can work from home should continue to do so.

We ask that you continue to avoid public transport where possible to free up the space available for those who have no alternative way to travel.

If you must travel, consider walking or cycling as part of your journey or getting off a stop or two early to reduce the numbers of people travelling on Tubes and buses. You can  find the nearest Cycleway using our map

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Yours sincerely,
