After struggling to find informative, reliable advice for their son’s wheelchair needs and being offered appallingly inadequate solutions (unfortunately all too commonly experienced by parents of disabled children) the Warner family set off to gather their own information. Snowdrop Care & Mobility Ltd traded as Snowdrop Independent Living, which is the name of the new company set up to acquire the assets of Peter’s business when he decided it was time to slow down and ultimately retire. It was set up by an occupational therapist and specialised in a small range of products offering short time hire. This proved to be an invaluable service used by local hospitals and hotels. There was sometimes confusion over the trading name being associated with carers rather than equipment, therefore it was decided to change the name, and in 1999, Direct Mobility Hire Ltd was born.
The business now offers an extensive range of equipment. We relocated to larger premises in North London where we now offer, by our own-trained technicians, delivery, installation, sales, service and repair to most types of mobility and patient lifting equipment throughout the South East of England. We enjoy close working relationships with the NHS and private hospitals along with many nursing agencies, hotels, travel companies and advice organisations.

Most items can be ordered easily on-line and shipped anywhere in the UK. Other products such as prescriptive wheelchairs and pressure care products have to be assessed; and to ensure that we can give and maintain the best service possible, we only supply those products having assessed the clients needs and requirements. Or a prescription has been for these products we can come to you.
Some equipment requires ongoing maintenance and for this reason Wessex Healthcare will only supply those products within the Wessex region. If we unable to service a product we will ensure thathelp you we can recommend other authorised suppliers and partners around the country.
