Tender opportunity: Sandwell minor aids and adaptations contract

BHTA members involved in home adaptations, accessibility solutions, and minor works services may wish to review a new tender opportunity from Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council for the delivery of a minor aids and adaptations service in council housing. The contract is intended to support residents’ independence, accessibility, and safety at home through a responsive and proactive service.

Contract details

This is an open procedure tender under the Procurement Act 2023.

The contract covers minor adaptation works with a value of less than £1,500 in total for labour and materials. These works will be provided without charge to the service user where access to the service and specified works are determined by the council.

The contract also includes associated adaptation works such as increasing internal doorways, filling open sections of staircase balustrades, providing ramps up to 300mm rise and ramps exceeding 300mm rise, supplying external half steps and additional external one and half steps, installing steel handrails to ramps, fitting mop stick handrails and back boards to stairwells, fitting grab rails and corner grab rails, installing wall-mounted drop-down rails, fitting slatted shower seats, supplying and fitting shower curtains and rails, installing lever taps, and fitting electric thermostatic showers. There is no requirement for an out-of-hours provision.

Evaluation

The tender will be evaluated on the basis of 60 percent price and 40 percent quality.
