Tender opportunity for healthcare equipment servicing and repair providers: North Ayrshire Council

North Ayrshire Council has published a new contract notice inviting tenders for the servicing and repair of additional support needs (ASN) equipment across non-housing properties within the North Ayrshire area. This opportunity may be of interest to BHTA members involved in the maintenance and servicing of healthcare and assistive equipment.

Contract overview

The contract covers the servicing and repair of ASN equipment, including but not limited to mobile and tracking hoists, medical beds, and changing tables. Services will be delivered across the North Ayrshire mainland, as well as the Islands of Arran and Cumbrae.

The anticipated contract period is 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029, with the option for North Ayrshire Council to extend the agreement by up to 24 months, subject to satisfactory performance and available funding.

Procurement process

The procurement will follow a GPA open procedure. Tenders will be evaluated using the following award criteria:

  • Price: 60 percent
  • Quality: 40 percent

Participation requirements

Bidders will be required to demonstrate relevant economic, financial, and technical capacity. Key requirements include:

  • A minimum annual turnover of £80,000 for each of the last three years
  • Appropriate levels of insurance, including employer’s liability, public liability, and product liability
  • Evidence of relevant experience through two comparable contracts completed within the last three years, supported by references
  • Confirmation of any intended subcontracting arrangements

Bidders must also hold, or have documented policies covering, quality management, health and safety, and environmental management, including recognised standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001, or equivalent.
