Tender opportunity: Barnsley Council seeks modular ramp suppliers

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council administers Disabled Facilities Grant adaptations for privately owned, housing association, and privately rented properties in Barnsley.

Tender overview

The council is seeking a provider through a below-threshold open competition to design, manufacture, and install modular ramped access solutions, including associated works such as low-level threshold doors. The Disabled Facilities Grant team processes around 30 modular ramped access installations each year, with anticipated annual expenditure of approximately £100,000.

Ramped access referrals come from the council’s Occupational Therapy Team, which medically assesses a person’s requirements for level access to and from a property. Where a modular ramped access solution is deemed to meet the person’s current and long-term needs, a recommendation is made to the DFG Team to process a Disabled Facilities Grant to fund all or part of the costs of the installation.

Eligibility
