BHTA members supplying and installing home adaptation equipment are encouraged to review a new tender opportunity from Cambridge City Council.
The contract will support Cambridgeshire Home Improvement Agency in delivering fixed equipment installations, generally funded through Disabled Facilities Grants, across Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire, and Huntingdonshire.
The contract is divided into seven lots. The council expects to appoint up to four suppliers per lot, and suppliers may bid for any combination of lots.
Installations will be commissioned individually through purchase orders rather than as batches of planned work. Contractors will generally assess properties following contact from an occupational therapist or trusted assessor, agree the client’s requirements, and provide a quotation. Most work will go to the highest-ranked contractor for each lot, with other appointed contractors used when required because of equipment availability, demand, or performance.
Indicative annual demand comprises approximately 40 ramp installations, 44 lift installations, 30 ceiling-track hoists, 25 automated entry systems, and 33 specialist toilets, although volumes may vary. Around two-thirds of the agency’s work is currently in Huntingdonshire, with the remainder divided between Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire.
Contractors will work to fixed prices submitted separately for the three council areas and must meet the specified lead-in and completion times. The substantive work must be delivered through direct labour; subcontracting must be declared and will generally be limited to ancillary services, such as electrical sign-off.
This tender is suitable for SMEs able to supply and install one or more of the specified home adaptation equipment categories.
Tenders will be evaluated on quality at 60 percent and price at 40 percent.
Access the tender documents and submission instructions through the ProContract portal.
The tender submission deadline is 12pm on 28 August 2026. Questions must be submitted by 6pm on 21 August 2026.
