BHTA members involved in wheelchair provision, postural support, mobility equipment, and related clinical services are encouraged to review a new tender opportunity from NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) for wheelchair and postural services across North Yorkshire and York.
The ICB is seeking to commission a provider that can deliver a clinically safe, high-quality, dignified, and cost-effective service that places wheelchair users at the centre of their own care and supports their ongoing health and wellbeing needs.
The service will include timely and comprehensive holistic assessment of an individual’s posture and mobility needs, taking into account medical condition, functional ability, social situation, and environment.
The provider will be expected to support posture and pressure relief requirements, including predictable changes in wheelchair user needs where appropriate. The service must also support wider health and wellbeing needs, enhance and maintain quality of life, and support personalisation and independence.
The notice states that the service should offer a Personal Wheelchair Budget where eligible and appropriate, support an overall reduction in hospital admissions and length of stay, and ensure wheelchair users and carers are central to assessment and provision decisions.
This tender is suitable for providers able to deliver wheelchair services, postural assessment, mobility support, pressure relief, and associated person-centred clinical services in a healthcare setting.
NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB is procuring wheelchair and postural services through a competitive process under The Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
Tenders must be submitted electronically through Atamis by 1pm on 18 June 2026.
