On 21 November 2023, the British Healthcare Trades Association held a parliamentary reception in the Churchill Room, at the House of Commons. The event marked the launch of the BHTA 2023 Manifesto, calling on the government to work with industry to improve health and social care across the UK.
The BHTA 2023 Manifesto centers on 5 key asks that BHTA believes require government attention, and calls for collaboration among stakeholders, policymakers, healthcare professionals and industry to improve healthcare in the UK.
Since the publication of the BHTA 2023 Manifesto, the BHTA is thrilled to see several of its “Five Rs” recommendations take shape in the form of initiatives from government and key stakeholders DBT, DHSC, MHRA, NHS, NHSE, NICE, OLS, and others.
The BHTA’s “Five Rs” recommendations remain as relevant now as when they were first published. The BHTA 2026 Policy Update aims to advance those recommendations with concrete priorities and actions – and accounts for changes and developments over an eventful last three years.
The BHTA calls for a collaborative approach between government, the NHS (and other key stakeholders), and industry to deliver better outcomes, faster innovation, and sustainable systems through five suggested priorities and 25 actions.
